House Fire on New Bridge Road

Monday, January 13, 2014

At 1638, Stations 300, 400, Talbot Sta(s). 80 and 50 were dispatched for a dwelling fire at 8980 New Bridge Rd.  As units were responding, dispatch advised they had received multiple calls reporting fire in the first floor walls spreading to the second floor.  PM 391 was the first arriving unit and reported a two story balloon frame dwelling with smoke and fire showing from the C/D corner.  Talbot Chief 80 arrived soon after and assumed The "New Bridge" Rd. command.  Engine 302 was the first arriving suppresion piece and the crew stretched a 200' 1 3/4" crosslay and quickly advanced to the seat of the fire. The crew of Tower 310 arrived and started opening up the interior for fire attack. Units from 400 arrived  and were assigned ventilation.  Crews from 80 and 50 worked on division 1, opening up and controlling the fire in the walls and ceiling.  Due to the quick action of all the crews on scene, this fire was quickly brought under control. Crews remained on scene for approx 3 hours doing extensive overhaul and awaiting the Fire Marshal. CC DES officer 902 assisted with water supply.

When units were returning to quarters, Tower 310 was struck by a distracted motorist, nearly taking out several crew members.  We ask the public to please pay attention, as this could have been a tragic accident.

Thanks to all crews on the the scene JOB WELL DONE!
