The Denton Volunteer Fire Company (DVFC) is a 100% Volunteer Fire and EMS service that serves the community of Denton, and provides mutual aid to the surrounding counties areas. The DVFC offers several classifications of membership that allows most age groups to participate and serve their community.
Membership Classifications
- Cadet: Age groups between 14 years old and 18 years old. Members participate in various activities including emergency responses, fund raising, training, etc. Cadets above the age of 16 may elect to participate through the High School Votech program and attend training while earning school credits. Our training is offered in conjunction with University of Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute.
- Fire/EMS members: Members above the age of 18 that can attend Basic Firefighting and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training to actively respond on 911 emergencies. Members are required to attend minimum training requirements, including operating emergency vehicles. Other duties include attending fund raisers, general department meetings and training.
- Associate: The Associate membership allows members of the community to also "support" their community and the DFVC. These members are not required to respond on 911 emergencies, however still help out with our fund raisers, and our general meetings.
The DVFC has several other offerings to eligible members including LOSAP, State tax deductions, college level educations and certifications, plus the satisfaction of being giving back to your community.
Our department also participates in several events in the community throughout the year.
